Comfort and fit

13 of 20 reviewers who discussed it had a problem with it

“The premium aluminum body finish and the microfibre cushions feel quite soft, but the weight, it's quite heavy to wear for a long time at 451 grams.”

Gadgets 360 · Nov 2024 · 1:25 →

“for me personally even fully extended they are still too small they only extend this much and and fully extended they barely cover my ears”

The Polish Potato · Oct 2024 · 2:03 →

“And because they're so large, they also tend to be heavy, which means that they're not the most comfortable.”

Michael Soledad · Sep 2024 · 2:39 →

“However, in terms of comfort, I think they are not the most comfortable headphones.”

Isa Marcial Global · Apr 2025 · 3:27 →

“after long periods of use, the size and the weight of these ear cups do become a bit too much for the side of my head. These are pretty heavy headphones”

MacRumors · Aug 2024 · 2:16 →

“Dyson tried to balance the weight by placing two battery cells in the headband. And while that helps, you still feel the heft.”

Price and value

8 of 9 reviewers who discussed it had a problem with it

“The only thing that would hold me back from 100% recommending the Dyson OnTrac headphones is their price. $500 is a lot of money to spend especially on a single tech product like headphones.”

Mashable · Aug 2024 · 5:54 →

“Personally, I couldn't imagine a scenario where I go out and spend $500 on the Dyson OnTrac headphones. There are options with more smart features, better specs at a lower price.”

Tom’s Guide · Jul 2024 · 6:14 →

“There is no plug included which at this price point does feel a touch cheap.”

Erin Lawrence · Nov 2025 · 1:07 →

“these are not worth $450, I would say that these are worth maybe 250, 50 maybe 300 at max, but $450 for these, no, I would never pay $450 for a pair of these kind of headphones”

Sound quality

7 of 21 reviewers who discussed it had a problem with it

“I just got these in the mail... half the price... I would almost be willing to bet my left testicle that these are going to sound twice as good.”

Flossy Carter · Sep 2024 · 16:11 →

“out of the box, it does sound a little thin because by default, it really sounds very flat”

Tic Tech Toe Labs · Feb 2025 · 4:25 →

“Sound lacks dynamic punch and subtlety compared to competitors”

Design and build quality

4 of 21 reviewers who discussed it had a problem with it

“Aluminum covers the outer ear cups. These aluminum parts do catch major fingerprints since mine are a loaner pair and have been through several sets of hands, the smudging and muckiness is quite noticeable in person”

Erin Lawrence · Nov 2025 · 3:15 →

“as a headphone this is this is a little strange looking this is very bulky very heavy it's relatively heavy compared to other products that the competition does on the market”

The Polish Potato · Oct 2024 · 0:35 →

“I won't lie, my initial impression just solely based on the looks was not that great.”

Mashable · Aug 2024 · 0:34 →

“And third, they're just ridiculously big.”

Michael Soledad · Sep 2024 · 1:00 →

“Now compared to sleeker options like the Sonos Ace or AirPods Max, the Dyson OnTrac headphones are big and bulky.”

TechHook · Oct 2024 · 1:39 →

Who this is counted from

Thumbnails open each reviewer's video on YouTube.

How this is counted. One reviewer, one vote per topic — a reviewer who makes six points about sound counts once, so the numbers measure reception rather than talkativeness. Specifications and stated personal preferences are excluded; only assessments and direct comparisons count. A topic appears only where at least eight reviewers discussed it.
