“Sony has kind of been going under heat for hinge durability for a while now is the hinge durability. I've never had problems with my hinges, but it's worth noting other people have had problems with previous generations on the hinges…”
“If you look at the hinge design here, this has been a notorious issue online and I have seen examples of this hinge breaking. To get down to this lightweight, Sony did use quite a lot of plastic, but the hinge here is really the weak point.”
“These feel really plasticky and really cheap and the design of it is absolutely beautiful. But once you actually hold them in your hands, they feel extremely cheap, they're extremely flexible.”
“Ultimately, I wish Sony would have just continued to refine their 1000XM4s instead of putting out this new body found on the 1000XM5s, which is just an overall downgrade.”
“when you wear these headphones, they just stick out of your head a bit more than some other pairs of headphones out on the market and to me they just kind of look ugly.”
“The XM5s have a feeling of being extremely refined, but strangely fragile. That comes from the ear cup mechanism that makes it feel like it's floating.”

“And the second thing that I noticed is that with the travel case being like this thin flat thing that uh Sony gives you with the headphones, instead of folding these up, um I guess into like a ball almost, you twist these cups down and…”
“the XM5s had a really big chunky box. Not only was it big, it had a weird shape. Not only that, it also had this really weird zipper that went all around and that was very inconvenient.”
“with the Mark 5s over here, these couldn't fold at all, which made taking it around a little bit more difficult, caused the case of these headphones to be a lot bigger”

“Add some Sony headphones back in the day that I didn't realize for a long time why I didn't use them that often... my head one is getting super hot because of these just clamp down so hard and then second thing they clamp down super hard…”
“the Sonys, you know, even when I tighten it down, it kind of feels like it's going to fall off. I have to always tilt it so that if I'm lying down on a bench, I'm kind of wearing my headphones like this...”
“And now these don't fold flat against your collar. So if you're hanging them around your neck, now the cushions point upwards. So they feel a little more restrictive than the XM4.”

“the XM5s, the XM4s as well as the XM3s are always some of the worst sounding ANC headphones that I have ever used. This is some generational genetic trash.”
“if you want a headphones for loudness, the Sony 1000XM5 is not the one. You can go for the Skullcandy Crusher headphones that have built in fourth base.”
“Now let's take a look at the X6s. Now the X5s I was perfectly content with... with the X5s they have two narrow buttons going on here and it was very much easy to get confused when you don't see it which one's which...”
“I'm not a big fan of Sony's because turning up a few volume notches would require you to slide up multiple times and pray that you didn't swipe slightly to the left or right side or you'll skip your music instead”

“since I've had multiple connection issues to the point where I've had to forget device and repair it multiple times in a day and this is something I just haven't had to deal with with the XM5s”
“You try hooking up Sonys to your computer, all it's going to do is charge. You're not going to get any music from the Type-C port. You got to use the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack.”
“So should you go for headphones like the Sony WH-1000XM5s instead? I'm not so sure, they don't offer lossless over Bluetooth like the Sonos Ace and they don't look as nice either...”

“There is also an adaptive sound control feature that can be turned on allowing the headphones and the app to detect your actions and automatically switch how ambient sound is filtered. Theoretically this could be good when traveling by bus…”
“Sony's ambient mode is good, but it still has that slight digital hiss and robotic tint to voices that reminds you you're listening through microphones.”
